Organization Woes

I am usually a very organized person. I can organize my things very well. But to have to also organize my husbands things, the school room stuff and try to keep my kids organized is a bit orverwelming. I go crazy, work a bit, finally calm down, and before I can get more done, disaster happens. Can I put my kids and husband in suspended animation for about a week or two?

When the Saints Go Marchin' In

School has began, sorta.

I tried to start the girls with school work, but then taking care of my mom took up to much of my time. But now that I don't have to go out there every day, hopefully I can get the girls back on schedule. It may take awhile, but I am ready for the fight. I just hope I have a back up. Of course I may have a bit of a fight getting him back on schedule also.

The Pre Birthday Party

Party Time had to many deliveries for Saturday so they brought our slide to us a day early. The girls had a blast playing, even Stephanie had fun since she didn't have to worry about looking silly in front of her friends.

Spring Has Sprung

VBS Week

This week all three are going to VBS. Steph is a helper and the other two are participating. It will be so great to have a few hours by myself each day. I hope to accomplish a lot. I will be satisfied to accomplish a few things.

Spa Day

For Mother's Day, the kids gave me a gift certificate for a spa day. It was wonderful. I had a massage, then a facial, manicure, pedicure, and then had my hair done. I took myself out to eat afterwards and had one of the most relaxing days of my life. I would recommend a pampering day for any mom. Even if it is just having your hands and feet done. That alone would have been a wonderful treat. So if any husbands need gift ideas, a spa certificate is the thing. Mom's are able to take better care of their kids when they have been taken care of also.

Summer Time

Summer has began. We know that because the camps have begun. Volleyball camp is this week, VBS and Middle School Mania next week, and then the sleepover camps. Everyone always comments about the slower pace of summer, yet summer is busier for us than the school year. It seems to be one commitment after another. During the school year, I say no to so many things, because school is the priority. But during the summer, activities are the norm.

Easter

Easter was a wonderful weekend. The cloudiness of the day made it cooler to be out hunting Easter eggs.

Birthdays

Well another birthday has come and gone. I'm 46 now. For now age does not bother me. I do what I want when I want. What makes me feel old is trying to keep up with my kids. Yet, they also make me feel young. Teaching them has been my greatest joy and my greatest failure. When they get it, it is such fun to see their joy of accomplishment. But when something is not working, or they don't understand what I am trying to teach, I feel like the biggest loser. But I know they lose more if I don't find a way to help them learn. Knowledge comes with age, but what you do with that knowledge is also important. You can experience many highs and lows, bad things and good things, but what do you do with that knowledge. How do you make the world around you a better place. How do you improve your relationships with others. God wants us to grow, not only in knowledge but in stature. So as I contemplate this past birthday, have I grown in knowledge of the Lord? Have I grown closer to God? Have I made things better for the people around me? Have I lived up to God's standard?

First Day of Spring

The first day of Spring came and it was to wonderful of a day to stay inside. We decided to have some fun. We went to Celebration Station and played mini-golf and rode the go-carts. Golfing was fun. The kids enjoyed the different objects to work around. Then Pamela and Elizabeth rode the mini train. Elizabeth was excited, but when it got started she was a bit scared of the down hill speed. She finally warmed up to it and had fun. Then came the go-carts. The noise of the engine made Elizabeth not want to ride. So Stephanie took her turn on the mini go-carts. They had a blast. Then it was time for the big go-carts. Elizabeth rode with me, and Pamela rode with Will, Stephanie drove herself. They were all very excited, then we took off. Will went full blast, Pamela was all smiles around every turn. Stephanie was gunning it as much as she could. I had to go slow. Elizabeth covered her eyes, and never looked up. She didn't cry during the ride, but afterwards she cried her eyes out. She said she never wanted to go on the go-carts again, they were to fast. Will had to carry her out to the van. The next day we talked about the go-carts. Pamela was ready to go again. Elizabeth was a maybe. After about an hour or so, she wanted to go again as long as Mommy drove, because Daddy went to fast. Someday we will see if she is truthful to her word or not. But for now we have the memories of a great day.

Upward Cheerleading

Coaching two squads of cheerleaders was hectic, but a lot of fun. I had 10 girls on one squad and 7 on the other. Three of the girls were my own. My only hope is that I protrayed a possitive Christian attitude to each and every one of them.

Upward is a great influence for kids to see a Godly view of competition. I wish all my girls a wonderful summer and hope they know I love them all.

January is half gone.

The first month of the year is already half over. All my plans for really getting organized and productive are still in the "I really need to work on that" stage. I haven't even started organizing even one idea. If I don't get off my fat duff soon and at least start one project, I'll be celebrating Christmas again with all my old problems still facing me every day.

Upward

Upward games start this Saturday. There will be over 300 basketball players and cheerleaders. If even one person comes to a saving faith with Jesus then all the work is worth it.

2009

2009 - A new year. As I look to the coming days I wonder what God has planned for me. I want to follow his plan for me and not steam roll ahead with my own agenda. He already knows the plans He has for me, He will tell me when He is ready. I just hope I don't stumble along working my idea of accomplishments, when God wants me to accomplish something great for Him. I don't want to miss the blessings He has for me. I pray for clear guidance and a straight path. May God bless our country even when the leaders are not looking to God for guidance and knowledge. May God bless my state with growth and prosperity and good weather. May God bless my city leaders with sound decision making. May God bless my home with happiness and closeness. May God bless my family with health and learning. And may God bless me with understanding and contentment.

Gift wrapping

Well tonight I wrap and wrap and wrap. I haven't wrapped a single gift and Christmas is only two more days away. I am waiting for the kids to go to bed so I can wrap the larger items, but the smaller items I need to work on now. Wrapping doesn't bother me, but since I use my bed as a work area, I end up with a sore back before I finish.

The weekend before Christmas

This past weekend we had a great time. It started with a Sunday School class Christmas party. The kids had so much fun being with their friends. Getting together with other adults is a great stress relief. I wish we had more opportunities to get together with friends.

Then we went to see the Nutcracker ballet. Elizabeth was practically leaping in her seat. She enjoyed watching the dancers. She leaped her way back to the van, and leaped through Grandma's house all evening.

Sunday was Pamela's 10th birthday. The class sang Happy Birthday to her and then she had her birthday dinner at Grandma's. She picked her usually, Pizza.

So now we have three days to finish getting ready for Christmas.

Christmas Layouts

I've seen some wonderful Christmas layouts on other blog sights, but no matter what I do I can't get one on my blog. Bummer.

Wow, what a Fall. First Hurricane Gustav came through and took trees, roofs, and electrical lines with it. We were a few weeks without power. The days were fine, a bit hot, but the nights were the worst. We couldn't sleep in the heat and our sinuses made us even more miserable. Will was working six days a week and the overtime pay helped us a lot. But then the ball dropped. A test that he had failed at work came up for a retake. Instead of giving him a test on the material that he had failed they added extra stuff. We know they did this purposefully to get rid of Will, but it was not a correct action. So on October 8th, Will was terminated from his job.
